Like many organizations, our chapter experienced reduced member activity during the COVID-19 pandemic. As we move forward, we’re excited to rebuild and strengthen our community. We’re seeking dedicated professionals to help lead our chapter into its next chapter.
We are now accepting nominations for the following officer positions for the 2025 term:
- President
- Treasurer
- Secretary
- Education and Events Director
- Membership Chair
Additional information on each of these roles is available in other posts. This is an excellent opportunity to:
- Give back to the cybersecurity community
- Develop leadership skills

ISC² Chicago Chapter Treasurer Position
Ideal Candidate Profile
The ideal Chapter Treasurer is a financially astute professional with strong analytical and accounting skills. This person should have experience managing budgets, maintaining financial records, and ensuring compliance with financial regulations. The successful candidate will be detail-oriented, highly organized, and demonstrate impeccable integrity in handling organizational funds. Experience with non-profit financial management, tax reporting, and accounting software is highly beneficial. The ability to translate financial information into clear reports for Board and member consumption is essential.Position Description
The Treasurer serves as the financial steward of the Chapter, overseeing all financial operations and controls. They manage all financial accounts, prepare and monitor the annual budget, and provide quarterly financial reports to the Board. The Treasurer ensures proper financial controls are maintained, handles vendor relationships, and manages insurance coverage. They are responsible for filing federal tax returns and maintaining financial compliance documentation. This role requires approximately 8-10 hours per month, with additional time needed during tax preparation and annual budget planning. The Treasurer must maintain an active (ISC)² certification and cannot have any financial conflicts of interest with the chapter’s operations. -

ISC² Chicago Chapter President Position
Ideal Candidate Profile
The ideal Chapter President is a strategic leader with strong organizational and interpersonal skills. This person should have experience leading teams, be well-respected in the information security community, and demonstrate a commitment to professional development. The successful candidate will be comfortable with public speaking, have excellent communication skills, and be able to balance multiple priorities while maintaining a focus on the chapter’s mission and growth.Position Description
The President serves as the chief executive officer of the Chapter, providing overall leadership and direction. They preside over Board and chapter meetings, ensure bylaw compliance, and coordinate with the (ISC)² Association on key initiatives. The President approves expenditures within authorized limits, appoints committee chairs, and oversees chapter operations and logistics. This role requires approximately 10-15 hours per month, with additional time needed for special events and strategic planning. The President must maintain an active (ISC)² certification and cannot serve on boards of competing organizations. -

ISC² Chicago Chapter Secretary Position

The Secretary serves as the official record keeper of the Chapter, maintaining all corporate and organizational documentation. They are responsible for recording and distributing meeting minutes, managing official correspondence, and maintaining the chapter’s legal standing with state authorities. The Secretary manages chapter communications, maintains the website and social media presence, and ensures proper notice of all meetings. This role requires approximately 8-10 hours per month, with additional time needed for meeting preparation and attendance. The Secretary must maintain an active (ISC)² certification and demonstrate proficiency in document management and corporate record-keeping. -

ISC² Chicago Chapter Membership Chair Position

They should be comfortable with database management, have strong communication skills, and enjoy working with diverse groups of professionals and students.Position Description
The Membership Chair serves as the primary advocate for chapter members and drives membership growth initiatives. They maintain accurate membership records, process new applications, and conduct membership renewal campaigns to ensure consistent engagement. This role develops and implements strategies for membership growth, manages member engagement programs, and coordinates student outreach efforts to build the next generation of security professionals. The Membership Chair provides quarterly metrics to the Board and ensures all members comply with chapter requirements. This position requires approximately 8-10 hours per month, with additional time needed during membership drives and student outreach events. The Membership Chair must maintain an active (ISC)² certification and demonstrate a track record of successful relationship building and community development. -

ISC² Chicago Chapter Education and Events Director Position

The ideal Education and Events Director is a dynamic professional with strong project management and event planning experience. This person should be well-connected in the information security community with the ability to identify and secure engaging speakers and educational content. The successful candidate will be highly organized, detail-oriented, and skilled at managing multiple events simultaneously. They should possess excellent networking abilities, be comfortable with public speaking, and demonstrate experience in adult education or professional development programming. The ability to balance both strategic planning and hands-on execution is essential.Position Description
The Education and Events Director serves as the primary architect of the Chapter’s professional development and networking programs. They develop and execute the annual education calendar, manage speaker relationships, and ensure all events meet CPE requirements. This role coordinates venue selection, manages event logistics, and oversees registration processes while working closely with the Treasurer on event budgets. The Director ensures proper documentation of educational activities and maintains records of CPE credits. This position requires approximately 10-12 hours per month, with additional time needed during event weeks and program planning periods. The Education and Events Director must maintain an active (ISC)² certification and demonstrate successful experience in event planning and educational program development. -

Elections Procedure Overview:
- Send nominations (for yourself or others) to [email protected] by midnight February 28th, 2025. Nominations should include a brief (but persuasive) introduction and your LinkedIn profile.
- To appear on the ballot you must have an active ISC2 certification and be a member in good standing (paid dues).
- Ballot and voting information will be sent by email on or before March 3rd.
- Elections will be held live in-person and online in on March 6th, 2025. Voting will be open from approximately 2:30PM until 3:30PM.
- Election results will be announced shortly after voting closes.
